These policies apply to all my courses.
When you take one of my courses, I will assume you have read and agreed to everything here.
FORMAT Classroom work consists of lecture, discussion, small group work (sometimes), guest speakers, computer work, and video presentations. As much as possible, we will focus on discussion of readings, ideas, and issues, as a class, on b-boards, and in small groups.
RULES
- Students are expected to do extensive reading, and to be prepared to discuss the readings in class when they are due. All readings should be complete by the due date shown on the syllabus. Quizzes may be given to test basic knowledge of the reading content.
- Students are expected to attend class regularly and on time. Since discussion and group work are significant elements of the course, your presence is required. Each absence after four (each summer class counts as two) will result in a major deduction from your final grade (see individual syllabi).
- All assignments are due in class on the day specified in the syllabus. Assignments handed in late will be graded down one grade for each class they are late. Assignments should be sent to me electronically in Word or Rich Text format at

. Do not leave papers in my box without talking to me first. Keep a copy of all papers.
- All written work should adhere to the highest standards of good writing--correct spelling and grammar, good organization, neat presentation, and so forth. Poor writing will be reflected in your grade. Get help if you need it!
- All required assignments MUST be turned in, even if late; failure to hand in an assignment will result in a final grade of "F"
- No incompletes will be given!
